To register a branch in Spain, the following documentation and requirements must be fulfilled

Spanish tax identification number (NIE)

A representative of the Spanish branch, to be a Spanish resident (liable for any debts of the branch before the Spanish Tax Authorities and social security)

The branch must obtain an NIE from the Spanish Tax Agency to register for VAT and submit VAT returns quarterly.
