  • A copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the parent company
  • A copy of the parent company’s Certificate of Incorporation
  • A document appointing a French branch representative, if non-EU special state authorisation is required

The requirements stated above are needed by the Commercial Court to register the branch. All documentation must be officially notarised and translated into French by a translator.

  • Register with Tax Authorities for VAT number; file VAT returns monthly and tax returns annually.
  • Parent firm files annual budget with the Court of Commerce; branch must keep separate financial records.
  • A French bank account is advised, but not required, as the French Tax Authorities charge payments from abroad.

While it’s not mandatory, opening a French bank account is strongly recommended. It simplifies tax payments and day-to-day financial operations, as payments from abroad may be charged by French Tax Authorities.
