CML Brexit Forum

OpenAEuropeanCompany.com was proud to be a part of the CML Brexit Forum, held on the 31st October 2018 at the Hinckley Island Hotel, Leicestershire. CML, one of the leading names in international freight and warehousing services, hosted the event to provide some clarity about the impact of Brexit on the logistics industry.

Lasting for six hours, the forum was attended by a panel of seventeen experts and over twenty client delegates from a variety of industries. Heather Landau of OpenAEuropeanCompany.com attended to offer advice on Brexit solutions available in Europe, alongside recommendations from other industry experts including a Brexit risk consultant and a Trade Finance representative.

The event was structured into two primary segments, with the morning session addressing common Brexit issues and answering general questions about the changes anticipated in March 2019. In the afternoon, guests were able to ask detailed and specific queries about their own individual businesses and what proactive measures were available for them to take.

“With a lot of uncertainty surrounding Brexit, we wanted to ensure our customers are fully educated and informed on the impact that this may have on the industry,” said Kerry Delaney, the Commercial Director at CML. “Our panel of experts were excellent and were able to shed a lot of light on various different topics surrounding Brexit. We’d also like to reassure all of our customers that CML will continue to provide a first class service throughout the process, regardless of any potential implications.”

Even with the Brexit deadline a few months away, there is still no firm answer whether the nation can expect a ‘hard’ or ‘soft’ Brexit deal – or if there is to be a deal at all. With logistics providers and border authorities on both sides of the Channel looking for answers, the CML Brexit Forum was an important opportunity to harness collective industry expertise and discuss real options.

Overall, the event enabled valuable networking possibilities and the proposal of solutions to the uncertainty of Britain’s future relationship with the EU.
